Ever stood in an art gallery and thought to yourself “I’m not in the mood for this”? Well the Brooklyn Film Festival has the answer. The independent film festival, now in its 27th year, has created a fun campaign based around the thought of ‘Art is Better When it Movies’. This comes to life in film, outdoor, and a mobile experience that allows gallery-goers to skip the art and watch footage from award winning films instead.

Our interactive mobile site allows users in galleries to photograph a piece of art, upload it, and through an AI algorithm, get a matching, award-winning movie from the Brooklyn Film Festival’s archive. Experience it for yourselves at makeitmovie.org

Our films lean into the feeling of feeling disconnected with the art in a gallery, and wanting to watch a film instead. We follow our protagonists’ imagination as they bring a real-world painting to life, in the form of a movie that plays out in their head.

Our OOH playfully uses iconic pieces of art such as Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks and adds a cinematic twist in the final frame, drawing people towards the CTA of scanning the QR and trying out the digital activation experience for themselves.
